Dallas, TX — November 7, 2025 — ThinkWell+ Counseling and Wellness stands with the Dallas community, the Dallas Cowboys organization, and families across the nation in mourning the loss of Marshawn Kneeland. His passing is a painful reminder that emotional and psychological pain often hides behind strength, achievement, and public admiration.
Dr. Jada Jackson, Founder and Clinical Director of ThinkWell+, issued the following statement:
“Marshawn’s death is a devastating loss—not just for football fans, but for every person who’s ever believed they had to suffer in silence. We cannot continue to ignore the emotional toll that life’s pressures place on our athletes, leaders, and loved ones. Mental health must be treated as a priority, not a privilege.”
At ThinkWell+, we know from experience that depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation are not always visible—but they are always real. We urge our community to move beyond sympathy and into action by creating space for vulnerable conversations, emotional check-ins, and nonjudgmental support.
This tragedy demands more than mourning—it demands that we:
Look past appearances and check in on those who seem like they “have it all together.”
Educate ourselves on the warning signs of mental distress, especially in high-performing individuals.
Direct people to life-saving resources, such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and local mental health providers.
We also encourage organizations, sports teams, and workplaces to rethink their approach to mental wellness. Counseling shouldn’t be reactive—it should be integrated into everyday life.
“The loss of Marshawn Kneeland must not be the end of the story,” Dr. Jackson added. “Let it be the beginning of a cultural shift where seeking help is seen as strength—not weakness.”
Let us honor Marshawn—not just with our condolences, but with our courage to create a world where no one faces emotional pain alone.
